Manchester is a city in southern New Hampshire, United States. It is the most populous city in northern New England (Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont). In 2019, the population was estimated to be 112,673. Manchester is less than an hour from the Atlantic Coast and a mere 90 minutes from the White Mountain and Lakes Region of New Hampshire.

Manchester often appears favorably in lists ranking the affordability and livability of U.S. cities, placing particularly high in small business climate, and is a diverse and multicultural community.

Frequently called the Queen City, Manchester is the largest city in New Hampshire and northern New England. Its nickname comes from the fact that it is larger than the state capital, Concord.

The city is the birthplace of several famous Americans including Adam Sandler, Seth Meyers, and Louis O. Coxe, is widely considered a must-visit destination. Rich in history, this bustling urban center is the largest arts, cultural, and entertainment mecca in New Hampshire.

Manchester is, along with Nashua, one of two seats of New Hampshire's most populous county, Hillsborough County and straddles the banks of the Merrimack River. It was first named by the merchant and inventor Samuel Blodgett, whose vision was to create a great industrial center similar to that of the original Manchester, England, the world's first industrialized city.
